Bio

Pedro Emanuel Pereira is one of the leading Portuguese pianists and composers of his generation, known for his distinctive artistic vision.

In 2026, he will serve as composer-in-residence at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music (USA), where his newly commissioned clarinet concerto will be premiered by Carlos Ferreira under the baton of Cristian Maçelaru. Other major works include a Requiem in memory of Francisco Sá Carneiro and Passarola for piano, electronics, and sacred geometry — a multimedia performance attended by the King of Spain and the Presidents of Portugal and Italy.

As a soloist, Pereira has performed in major cities such as Barcelona, New York, and Amsterdam. He is currently touring Europe’s top concert halls with clarinetist Carlos Ferreira as part of the Rising Star program, with over 20 concerts at venues such as the Barbican Centre (London), Philharmonie de Paris, and Concertgebouw Amsterdam, as well as across Portugal.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Portuguese Revolution of 1974, Pedro Emanuel Pereira created 50’25 – Through the Prisons of Portugal, a national tour that brings music and collaborative text-based composition into ten prisons across the country. The project will culminate in an original work inspired by inmate writings on the theme of silence.

His discography includes Russian Journey, Sounds of My Homeland, and XX–XXI, and his upcoming solo piano album, to be released in 2025, features works by Bach, Hindemith, António Victorino d’Almeida, and Pereira himself.

Winner of over 20 international competitions, Pedro Emanuel Pereira combines his work as a performer and composer with doctoral research at the University of Aveiro. He is also co-founder of the music production company Percos Music.
